and nothing seems impossible tonight <3

“It is saying these things that keeps us from falling apart. And maybe by imagining these futures we can make them real, and maybe not, but either way we must imagine them. The light rushes out and floods in.”

I always overreact whenever I discover anyone at Emerson who likes John Green. A nonfiction essay we workshopped today in class contained a section about meeting him and Looking for Alaska, so of course I covered the page in scribbles about Tour de Nerdfighting 2009 and The Fault in Our Stars and DFTBA etc. ZOMG etc. The thing is, it’s pretty clear by now that plenty of people like John Green. Every kid with a semi-stable internet connection and even passing interest in YA fiction knows enough about the world to love John Green. But something about that man and his books and his words will always bring me directly back to the eleventh grade, when he was a secret that only my friends and I were smart enough to uncover. When loving John Green was a code for the kind of people I wanted in my life.  (via youvegotbeauty)

Emphasis mine, I one hundred percent agree. I bonded so much with people over John Green:

(fun fact: the two other girls in this picture and I all used John Green quotes from different books (three had been released at the time) for our senior quotes. I can’t remember if it was on purpose or not.)

This night is a pretty good metaphor for my senior year. Looking back, I’m know some parts of it were painfully stressful. But the stuff that sticks out was perfection and sometimes I just miss it so so much.
